Today, the violin lessons will be my 2nd block of lessons with AF. Everyone is expecting me to play some semblance of a violin concerto but wait a minute, this is only my 5th lesson today and it is still about getting the correct techniques.
AF comments via email : Michelle progresses particularly quickly because of her previous knowledge. With this in mind, I've told her that she can play whichever selections she likes - I'm more focused on making sure she doesn't form any bad habits in violin technique. As I mentioned before, it's not the world's most naturally-fitting instrument, and it's easier to make errors that have to be relearned later. As someone who took a year to fix a bow hold problem, it's really important to me that my students get it right from the start.
