Prof Wei gave a polished performance at Auditorium A Komtar last night with Ms Chou at the piano. Mum exclaimed that Wei was indeed in her element, the finger board become her very own keyboard, the fingers and the hand movement were elegant, fast and precise. And mind you, she is doing that on a double bass instrument. She transcribed 2 pieces, The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, the Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op 85 (Edward Elgar) and 3 other pieces transcribed by D Wen for her double bass recital.
Since most of the musicians from PSO were encouraged to be there, last night was a night's break from our practices since last Friday. Even D.Wen mentioned that this is his first day off since August 2009. CLC came up from KL for this concert. However, his car ended up in the workshop as certain belt gave way.
