Universal Studios Singapore

We were up early for breakfast and after a short session of remembering the Lord (without the B&W), we are OFF to USS. The cab driver kept insisting that mum & dad were going to the casinos to make a quick buck, ha ha. For those who want to stay nearby, there are 6 hotels nearby, including Hotel Michael

The gates to USS were just opening when we bought our tickets -- no queues, maybe it was because of the rainy morning. The cost per ticket was S$72 with a complimentary S$25 Resorts World Sentosa Gift Voucher when you use your Mastercard to purchase 4 tickets. And for the month of Sept, $10 worth of shopping and dining vouchers for each entrance ticket. We were told that 2 parks were not available - Transformers (opening 2011) & Madagascar Crate adventure. The roller coaster was closed due to technical problems.

It was drizzling when we entered 'Hollywood', the usual shops lining the road ala Disneyland. Since there was nothing we could do at Magadascar, we went off to Far Far Away land and our first ride was the Enchanted Airways followed by Shrek 4-D adventure and Donkey Live. Donkey Live was hilarious.

Next was Lost World where we tried the Canopy Flyer - interesting but it would have been better to sit facing the direction of the route. Mum joined us for the Rapids adventure. Almost everybody was wet except us bc we sat at the back row, he he. Waterworld was next on the agenda but the first show will open only at 1PM.

Ancient Egypt - We did not try Treasure Hunters because it was reminiscene of the vintage car rider at Genting. So it was the Revenge of the Mummy, a high speed psychological thrill ride (in total darkness). That really 'giddied' us up for a while. Now we ready for lunch - how about Oasis Spice Cafe? It's not our 'cup of lunch'.

We passed by Sci-Fi City on the way to New York for lunch at Loui's NY Pizza Parlor. Take a look at the huge pizza. After lunch, we are off with Steven Spielberg's studio for Lights Camera Action where we were treated to real time hurricane which hit NY. We were told to hold on to the rail for effect - explosions, 10'x10' windows flying off, a motor boat dropped from over 20' and less than 10' in front of us and then, the hull of a ship crashed in. We were shaken but it was awesome. Did we missed something on Stage 28?

Pantages Hollywood theatre was a fun broadway musical and Mel's Drive-In looks like another fun place for lunch. We raced back to Waterworld for the last live show for the day. It was WET and it was amazing. Tower crashing down, speedboats and water scooters, explosions, bashings, guns cracking re-enacted the scenes of the movie Waterworld. That sounded very much like a finale to our EPIC day at Universal Studios.

marked in red - real time action, not to be missed.
